Two giants of the Welsh telecom industry merge to create powerhouse!
From 4th December 2019, DataKom and Pinnacle – two of the areas most successful independent telecom giants – have merged to create a £10M business and South Wales’ largest homegrown telephony business.
The business will be known as DataKom going forward, with the Pinnacle brand being retained for existing clients, only.
Managing Director Jay Ball, who founded DataKom in April 2007, will continue to lead the business but will be supported by a strong management team comprising of personnel from both DataKom and Pinnacle; Jenny Scourfield, Mark Barry, Craig Jones, Ben Stevens and Jason Pritchard.
Speaking of the merger, Jay said: “This is a hugely significant day for us. We have combined two excellent businesses to form a Welsh telecom powerhouse that will offer products and services to help future-proof organisations. By combining these two businesses, not only can we look after organisations across the whole of Wales in a more progressive and technology-focused manner, but we can attract and nurture the best Welsh talent that will enhance careers and improve the digital skills of our people.
“The new management team will run the day-to-day business and having personnel from both DataKom and Pinnacle will ensure that all of our clients are looked after whilst the two businesses are seamlessly merged.
Following the merger, DataKom has over a combined 47 years of trading, making it the most experienced telecoms business in South Wales.
Speaking of what the merger means for clients, Jay said: “DataKom has always had a healthy rivalry with Pinnacle and traditionally, we have had different segments of the telecoms market. DataKom has championed cloud-based telephony whilst Pinnacle has had more of a focus on legacy and on-premise solutions. Different products suit organisations based on their needs, so this will allow us to offer all products and solutions to our clients as well as cater to new businesses irrespective of their requirements.
“With digital transformation shaping the way we work, this merger means we can bring the world’s leading technology to the fingertips of Welsh businesses.”
The newly-merged business will have the backing of Southern Communications Group, which will enable it to have even better buying-power for hardware and technology services.
